For a lot of people, wondering what therapy costs is the thing that keeps it on the someday list. So here it is, plainly: which plans we’re in-network with, what out-of-network looks like, and how to find out what your plan covers before you commit to anything.

We’re in-network with Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Empire BCBS, Horizon BCBS, Meritain, and United/Optum.
If your plan is with Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Empire BCBS, Horizon BCBS, Meritain, and United/Optum, your visits are billed in-network and you’re typically responsible for your plan’s copay or coinsurance. We’ll confirm the specifics with you before your first session.
If we are not in network with your insurance plan, you may still be eligible for partial reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits, depending on your specific coverage.
After you pay for your therapy appointment, we’ll provide you with a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, your insurance company may reimburse a portion of the cost directly to you. The amount reimbursed varies by plan.
Because every insurance policy is different, we recommend contacting your insurance company before your first appointment to better understand your coverage.
Questions to ask your insurance company
- Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
- What percentage of each therapy session is reimbursed? (It is often helpful to provide the CPT code 90837 (individual therapy session) which is the code for an individual therapy session.)
- Is there an out-of-network deductible? If so, how much is it, and how much has been met?
- Is there a limit to the number of therapy sessions covered each year?
