I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is extremely passionate about promoting growth and transformation in the lives of my clients. I have extensive experience working with adults who experience anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and ADHD.
I have provided therapeutic services in a variety of settings including outpatient, residential facilities, schools, and in families’ homes. I enjoy using creative arts in my work with clients and am currently working on my Sand Tray Therapy Certificate. I have found this to be an extremely helpful modality for clients to be able to express themselves in a safe manner through the use of projective play. Other treatment modalities that I use to best serve my clients include psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, and mindfulness, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Strength-Based Therapy. I also utilize attachment theory to help clients that are experiencing relationship issues which can help identify adverse experiences in childhood that can be impacting the current relationship.
Providing culturally sensitive services to the clients I serve is of paramount importance to me. As a biracial woman (although I appear white), I am keenly aware of how important it is for social workers to advocate for social justice, and implement change to social policies that perpetuate institutional racism and discrimination. I intentionally create space in therapy for clients to process their racial experience and issues related to racial identity.
I believe that in order for therapy to be successful, the relationship between us must be strong and built on trust; it is my responsibility to create a safe and supportive space for you to process and share your story. I take a collaborative approach and create a personalized plan to assist you with reaching the goals that you want to achieve.
Getting to know me: In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach, taking my dog on long walks, reading, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and traveling. I also believe in being a life-long learner; I am currently taking lessons in order to achieve my goal of becoming fluent in speaking Spanish.
